It is great pleasure of me to write about the school. Shangri-La Public School (a Co-Ed. English Medium High School) was established in 1998 A.D. at Dhansigkot, Jorpati-4, Kathmandu. In the first year of its establishment, it had only 130 students along with 12 teaching and non-teaching staff. At that time the school had limited space and facilities both for the students and the teachers. But now, it has ample facilities with a good environment where nature forms an important and integral part of the education provided.
The school has more than 1000 students in this existing academic session- 2067 B.S. with more than 64 teaching and non-teaching staffs. We are achieving success and getting positive responses from all the sectors.
Maintaining the tradition for achieving success, we have taken long strides towards progress in all areas. Besides, the school examination results and the S.L.C results have shown marked improvement over the result of the previous year. This year we got an excellent S.L.C. result with the distinctions and the first divisions. We expect better results in the days to come. Not only the result of the students but also there has been a marked improvement in every activities of the students. However the school is continuing in its endeavor to create a still better teaching by appointing more experienced, dedicated and trained subject wise teachers to improve further more. In the existing academic session 2067, the level wise block for Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary is separated. Besides, the well furnished Hostel for both boys and girls will be developed. Science lab, library, music hall and computer lab are developed to meet the facilities.
The school has been eventually focusing towards extra-curricular activities which are essential for institutional environmental and all round development of the students. We organize different such activities as per the time and situation. Our students take part not only in the activities organized by the school but also in different literary competitions organized by other both public and private schools of the valley. Besides, outings like educational tour, excursion, picnic etc. are also arranged to places like parks, historical places, etc. To preserve our culture and traditions, we too observe different occasions by guiding the students by our music and dance instructors Madam Kunti Moktan and Prem Shrestha respectively.
To encourage the students towards games and sports, we do organize sport week every year. The students have shown great interest towards different games. With effect from last existing session 2063, we have basketball coach to coach the players. The students have started to take part in the tournament organized by different schools in the valley. Besides basketball, we do give equal emphasis towards football, volleyball and other events as well.
Shangri-La Public School is indeed proud to have enough land with four premises namely Block-'A', Block-'B' Block-'C' and Block-'D'. The location of the school is quite suitable for the harmonious, physical, intellectual, aesthetic and social development both for the students and the staffs. We are striving hard to provide all sorts of facilities to the students. On my own behalf of my staff, I assure all the parents, guardians, well -wishers that we shall continue to strive hard to live up to that trust by providing quality education and so many other facilities. |
